CONTACTS
There are several testing clinics for coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Northern Territory.
Your GP may be able to test you for coronavirus at their clinic or you may be directed to a special testing centre (see below).
If you can’t contact your GP, call your nearest respiratory clinic or call the NT COVID-19 hotline on 1800 490 484.
Do not just turn up at a clinic. For community safety, it is important that you call first to make an appointment.
If you are feeling seriously unwell, you should call an ambulance or go to the nearest emergency department.
NTG Symptoms and Testing by clicking here
Darwin and Palmerston region
- The Respiratory Clinic at Palmerston GP Super Clinic – phone 08 8919 8919 or schedule an appointment online
- Royal Darwin Hospital – Covid-19 Testing for hospital staff and families only.
For further information, please call NT Centre for Disease Control on 1800 008 002, or click on this link – https://coronavirus.nt.gov.au/stay-safe/symptoms-testing
After you get a test:
It may take a few days for the test results to come back.
If you have serious symptoms, you will be kept in hospital and isolated from other patients to prevent the virus spreading.
If your doctor says you are well enough to go home while you wait for your test results, you should do all of the following:
- stay at home and do not attend work or school
- do not share a room with anyone else in your household
- wash your hands often with soap and water
- cough and sneeze into your elbow
- avoid cooking for or caring for other members of your household
- wear the mask your doctor gives you if you can’t avoid close contact with other people.
If your test is positive
Please follow these guidelines: https://health.nt.gov.au/covid-19/managing-covid-19/if-you-test-positive
