Dana is a passionate Gunditjmara woman from a rural community near the banks of the Murray River (Dungalah).
Dana has been an advocate and supporter of rural and remote youth voice in education, mental health and wellbeing, and in government policy; and has grown her passion to study health and nutrition through her bachelor’s degree.
Currently Dana’s role at AMSANT is SEWB Project Officer, working across the workforce development team as a facilitator and regional lead for East Arnhem Land. Previously, Dana has worked 4-5 years in tertiary education, at the Melbourne Law School (University of Melbourne) in the Academic Support Office space, working with international lawyers, lecturers, and professionals. More recently, Dana has worked as a National Project Officer in the Rural Inspire initiative under Country Education Partnership; working with young people from rural and remote Australia, talking about youth aspirations and youth ambassadorial initiatives.
Dana’s current favourite quote is “Do not imagine that, if something is hard for you to achieve, it is therefore impossible for any man: rather consider anything that is humanly possible and appropriate to lie within your own reach too”. – Marcus Aurelius ‘Mediations’ (derived from his writings from 168AD).
