Digital Health
Digital Health is the strategic use and management of information technology to deliver best practice health care, and to share information and data with our member services and other health care providers.
At AMSANT we believe that digital health is merely an enabler … rather than focus on the technology, we focus on the people and processes that deliver excellent primary health care services.
Data and information are the life-blood of quality health services, as no two patients are the same and each needs individualised care and treatment. Patient records and information about relevant health conditions are essential for appropriate treatment by doctors, nurses and health workers.
These records also empower the patient to make informed decisions about their own treatment options and future care plans.
.
Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) in the NT have lead the nation since 2009 in their utility of Clinical Information Systems (CIS) and patient data, as we report to the NT Aboriginal Health Key Performance Indicators (NTAHKPI) and promote improvements across the sector.
The security and protection of patient information is central to what we do, as the disclosure of this information may cause personal or professional problems and breach the trust of the doctor-patient relationship. So, our systems are based on confidentiality and trust, and built with the patient at the center of all processes.
The Digital Health team is focused on problem-solving the many aspects of Communicare and it’s linkage into other information systems like the My Health Record, Medicare, AIR and other operation-critical systems.
We are also engaged as active advocates for our Member Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services where they overlap and rely on the NT Department of Health and Federal departments and systems to manage all aspects of their community clients and patients.
