Services and support

Social and emotional wellbeing (SEWB) program

Stronger families, safer communities and wellbeing for Aboriginal people across the Northern Territory.

At AMSANT, our social and emotional wellbeing (SEWB) team supports member services to support the social, emotional, cultural and spiritual well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the Northern Territory.

We focus on the whole person—spirit, body, mind, family, culture, country and community. The SEWB team supports the SEWB and alcohol and other drugs (AOD) workforce, helps services respond to grief, loss and trauma, and leads suicide prevention and healing work that is grounded in Aboriginal community control. Together with our partners, we work to make sure Aboriginal people can access safe, culturally strong care close to home.

We work with member services to build skills and confidence in SEWB, mental health, AOD and trauma-informed care.

Our work is guided by Aboriginal ways of knowing, being and doing, and by the voices of communities, elders and local SEWB workers, and includes clinical supervision and support staff and suicide prevention and postvention coordinators.

Together, they bring experience in Aboriginal community-controlled health, mental health, AOD, trauma-informed practice, community development and cultural healing.
